Security Company in Portsmouth
Portsmouth, Hampshire
SIA-licensed security officers across Portsmouth, Southsea and the island
Portsmouth is an island city and one of the most densely built places in the country outside London. Licensed premises, housing, retail parks and industrial estates sit on top of each other, and almost everything leaves by the M275, the A3 or the A27.
That density changes the job. Access, parking and the route off site matter here in a way they do not in an open town, and a guard who has not worked the island before will spend the first hour learning it.
What guarding in Portsmouth actually involves
Portsmouth runs on defence, the port, the university and tourism rather than on one private sector, and the security work reflects that mix.
The northern industrial belt
Anchorage Park, Voyager Park, Portfield and the Hilsea estates form the city's freight and distribution zone, up at the top of the island where the motorway comes in.
Events, from a stadium to an 80,000 capacity common
Fratton Park on match days, the Guildhall, the Kings Theatre and the Wedgewood Rooms, plus Victorious Festival on Southsea Common each August.
Retail across three distinct pitches
Commercial Road and Cascades in the centre, Gunwharf Quays on the waterfront, and the out-of-town parks at Ocean and the Pompey Centre. Each attracts a different kind of problem.
Regeneration and coastal works
City Centre North, the Southsea Coastal Scheme along four and a half kilometres of seafront, and the Tipner West sites all mean live compounds and plant to protect.
A large, concentrated night-time economy
Guildhall Walk, Gunwharf Quays, Southsea and Port Solent. The council's own licensing policy treats these as four separate areas, and they behave differently from one another.
Offices split across two centres
There is no single business district. Office work divides between the Guildhall Square area and the Lakeside North Harbour campus at Cosham, five miles apart.

Getting to you
We are based in Southampton, about forty minutes west along the M27. For planned cover, ongoing contracts and events booked in advance, that distance makes no practical difference.
For genuinely urgent same-hour cover it is an honest factor, and we would rather say so than pretend otherwise. Call and describe the situation, and we will tell you plainly what we can put in place and when.
Questions
Security in Portsmouth
- You are based in Southampton. Does that matter?
- For planned work, no. For same-hour emergency cover it is forty minutes of road, and we will tell you honestly whether that works for your situation rather than taking the booking and hoping.
- Do you cover Southsea, Cosham and Port Solent as well as the city centre?
- Yes, across the island and the mainland side at Cosham, Portchester and Port Solent.
- Can you supply door supervisors for licensed premises?
- Yes. Door supervision is a different SIA licence from security guarding, and officers are deployed on the correct one for the venue.
- Do you take festival and match day work?
- Yes, on a contracted basis arranged in advance. Those jobs are planned weeks out rather than taken at short notice.
